SUPPORTIVE HOUSING

Supportive Housing is located on the 2nd floor and consists of 2 secured self-contained “communities”. Each “Community” has 12 private bedrooms with ensuite bathroom c/w shower, plus shared kitchen, dining and living areas.

The residents who reside in each “Community” will value ongoing personal care assistance and 24/7 support from a professional community team.

All meals will be prepared and served to each “Community” by a community homemaker with other services and personal care provided by Resident Assistants. Those residing in each “Community” will be encouraged to assist in meal preparations and daily community cleaning activities.

The residents in Supportive Housing will together with supervision have access to the Community Activity Centre located on the main floor of the Buhler Active Living Centre as well as planned activities within each “Community”.

Residents from the communities will also have supervised access to the secure outdoor Garden Terrace located adjacent to the Supportive Housing floor.

Supportive Housing is designed to provide ongoing care for those residents that require on-site supervision with activities of daily living, such as bathing, grooming, dressing and facilitating provision of medications. In addition, residents will be provided with a variety of well-balanced nutritious meals, daily exercise activities, and the opportunity for socialization. Supportive Housing will create an opportunity for nurture and dignity in a safe and secure environment.

LIFE LEASE

When a resident leases a suite: The Life Lease (entrance fee) funds help finance the cost of developing and constructing the project. Payment of this refundable fee provides security of tenure but also reduces the monthly rental payment. When the resident moves or otherwise gives up the use of their suite, they can request the return of the provided funds.

The Buhler Active Living Centre uses a lease with annual renewals. In the event the Tenant is no longer able to live in the Buhler Active Living Centre, a 3 month written notice of cancellation (from the 1st of the month) is required to terminate the agreement.
